experiments
I like experiments, especially thought experiments, they seem to be a bit less messy than getting all kinds of stuff all over the place. Cleanup is easier, especially if you have a short memory.

Re: Our first subject
Yeah, I like that. I've been studying some physics lately and it seems many of the Great Physicists did a lot of thought experiments.
I'm not really interested in becoming a physicist, but I want to create new mental acuities and experiences, and this is what catches my interest a lot at least for right now.

Re: Our first subject
With any thought experiment the starting points must be realistic or plausible, or the logic will soon carry it into a fantasy land that will be completely out of touch. One of the nice things then the conclusion can be tested given the time and resources, as demonstrated by Einstein, who based much of his own work on 'thought experiments'.

Re: Our first subject
May we think of it like this?
Many if not all great thinkers want (or wanted) to make a theory of everything. If we could really do this, would not we become bored? Today's world is a lovely palace of information sharing. But, who do we share it with? I think we don't just share it with people we know, but with lots of things and others we don't know. I think we share it with unknown things and beings in dreams, and even now on the internet. It's all fun to me.

Just curious, how many people have you invited to this party?

Re: Our first subject
Just you and Henry and one other person so far. If you know people from other forums you'ld want to invite, feel free. I can't think of anyone else from Dissident unless maybe Kris.
Re: Our first subject
Here is another site I'm on, Kris is there too, they seem reasonable, and at least as sane as I am (I know that leaves a lot or room). Have a look and let me know if you want me to invite any of them.

BTW on the forum 'Philosophy and Logic', on the thread 'So Doc', on page 2 - 3 I have a description and a link to a few photos of my new house, thought you might like to have a look. I'm in the one picture of the attic, the large unfinished room. Other than that and the snow, its the dining area, the living room and library above it, and you can see into the kitchen a little, the fireplace is in the LR you can see it in the one shot of the dining area, but still needs the mantle.

Pretty house, pretty attic, nice physical body. Stay nice and remain thoughtful...
I've opened up a topic and we will see if get any responses or what kind of responses will come.
First glance would say that maybe Anna/Vanna did a bunch here and then went away, and Kris was active for a while. The early Admin styles seemed not to open to freedom of mind for the posters. That one guy "jab?" seems to have some math abilities and physics insights. Are there others?

Re: Our first subject
Sorry I haven't posted for awhile, there have been other forums that are just a bit more active. Without meaning to offend, it seems that these forums are very well represented by 'hostile liberal athiests' who are just as rabid in their dogma as any street corner Bible thumper, and I have no interest in engaging either. It seems I need to be very careful what I say to avoid animosity, Religion is not too much of a problem but politics is a real hotbed. They seem to be rabidly liberal and any thing a fellow liberal does is easily excused but let a consertive make a little slip and it seems like a federal case, or a lynch mob. I join sites for civil dialogue on subjects that strike my interest, not a vulger shouting match that quickly degenerates into the irrational and angry. Sorry for venting but I had to post it somewhere.
